New SmartLaw App Monday, 23rd March 2015
The Citizenship Foundation has just launched SmartLaw, an innovative free app that brings the law to life for 14-18 year olds. Available for iPhone and Android SmartLaw entertains and informs young people about the law by connecting the dots between popular culture and everyday legal situations. SmartLaw is available free to download from the App Store and Google Play now.
The app contains interactive quizzes based on TV plotlines, sport and current events which are written by the SmartLaw writers’ panel of volunteer law students, lawyers and barristers. The quizzes allow young people to explore the law and its relevance to their daily lives. Quiz topics so far include:
- Bullying on EastEnders
- The two years Ed Sheeran spent as technically homeless
- Luis Suarez biting an opponent’s shoulder.
This fun but legally accurate format helps young people to separate fact from fiction and understand their legal rights and their responsibilities.
If you are interested in getting involved with the writers panel, or would like more information about how to use the app in the classroom please contact email@example.com.
